Ireland's Lowest Cost Commuting:

A years driving electric for one months petrol bill.

Petrol and diesel are now averaging more than €1.13 per litre / €4.29 per gallon. The cost of electricity to charge a REVA overnight at the economy rate is as low as 76c (ESB night tariff 9.6kW hrs). So you can get 5.6 recharges for the same price as a gallon of fuel.

For an average commute of 32 km (20 miles) per day, this equates to approximately 6,4000 km (4,000 miles) taking in to account holidays. 6,400  kms in a REVA will cost just under 2 cents per km or €116 for the year, versus approximately 15c per km (average consumption is 32 mpg)

The lowest Motor Tax -  ONLY €104  Per Year

Electric vehicles pay the lowest road tax, currently €104 per annum (Used Reva's only pay €31). An average mid -range car pays road tax of €447 that's a saving of €343 + per year.

Lowest insurance group - From €250

The REVA is group one insurance, the lowest. A year's fully comprehensive insurance is around €250 per year, depending of course on your age and driving history.

100% year one tax write down for business-

REVA's are eligible for a 100% year one tax write down through SEAI's Accelerated Capital Allowance, making them particularly attractive to businesses and as a leased vehicle. Businesses effectively save around 20% of the ex VAT purchase price.

Full charge of the REVA requires 9.66 kWh of electricity which provides approx 80 km in range. With Airtricty (89% renewable energy) 1 unit costs .08 cents on a night charge. A full charge then costs .77 cents (0.8* 9.66). Per kilometre this is less than .01 cent ( .73 / 80-km).
