Eurobike 2022: The future of transport is here.
We’re fresh back from Eurobike where the atmosphere was truly electric! Micro mobility is moving full speed ahead into the fully charged sphere, and the halls buzzed with the latest and greatest offerings. Below, Tony (Mechanic, Pearse St) and Dave (Sales & Business Development Manager) share their top takeaways from this year’s show.
Our mechanic’s favourite new gadgets from Eurobike
The Pinion gearbox is being adopted by more brands on their flagship models, for good reason. It has the widest gearing range available and is low maintenance, making it ideal for touring or high mileage commuters. We’ll likely see this bring more innovation and development to hub motors, too.
The Magura/Bosch ABS system delivers controlled, safe braking on loose or uneven surfaces, and greatly reduces your chances of going over the bars in an emergency. This system will be very beneficial to our e-cargo bike customers, where overheating of braking systems is common, and safety is paramount — especially with precious cargo aboard.
Riese & Müller Multitinker: Great things come in small packages

Don’t be fooled by its name or humble proportions. The Multitinker packs a hefty punch. Its meticulously engineered sub frame houses an integrated Bosch 625Wh battery and Performance Line CX with 85 Nm of sheer power. All this coupled with a silent seamless transmission via Gates Carbon Belt Drive and Enviolo variable transmission hub.
That’s an impressive mouthful! Let’s put that into less technical terms:
- I love the look: unimposing 20 in rims, and RM’s new chic slate blue colour ‘’petrol’’
- Easy to mount and dismount with its low stand-over height, adjustable bars and seatpost
- The integrated rear rack is specifically designed as a kids and cargo carrier borrowing from the excellent design of its bigger cousin, the Multicharger
- I always felt safe and in control
One size fits all: A compact cargo bike for the whole family
The MT is up to any task. Drop the kids off at school. Commute to work. Pick up the groceries. The options are endless with a one size fits all configuration that’s sure to keep every member of the family smiling, ear to ear.
The rear rack holds two milk crates perfectly and the front rack can easily fit at least two school bags. It also comes with collapsible, side-mounting cargo bag options for that mid-week food run or trip to the gym. Clever!
Taking the Multitinker for a ride
The first test lap in the sweltering Frankfurt heat was memorable. The MT felt grounded and nimble as I jostled for position around the track. It zipped around with ease, even as stewards told us to behave…
Feeling confident after my first lap and reassured by the stopping power of the Magura brake set, I set the little Tinker a challenge: I recruited my colleague Ken to test its load carrying capacity (to the dismay of the technicians at the Riese & Müller test stand). Before anyone could react, Ken and I were off for a second lap. The MT didn’t miss a beat and performed excellently as a mini people carrier.
