The new Tria 8 from Staiger Sinus is a super reliable electric bike offering good components for an affordable price. This is our mechanics favourite bike because he rarely has to do anything with it! It’s excellent value considering how well spec’d out it is. It’s sporty yet comfortable making it a great touring bike and a great commuter.
Coming in three frame types – Crossbar, Trapeze and Stepthrough, the geometry and good weight distribution combine to make this a very manoeuvrable and well balanced bike. The external gear system allow the rider to change gears more rapidly. This makes the Tria 8 a real ‘riders bike’.
Harmonious, Homogeneous, Efficient
The Sinus Tria 8 is the entry level of ebike from Staiger Sinus’ trekking range. It has a great hybrid design and features a Shimano Acera 8sp rear derailleur as well as Tektro HD-M285 hydraulic disc brakes.
The Active Line system from Bosch
The new 250W engine delivers the most natural support, with an impressive 1000 sensor measurements per second. Direct measurements are made via 3 sensors: Torque (pedalling force); Pedalling frequency; and Speed. The level of technology from Bosch is what makes Bosch motors stand apart from all other electrical motor manufacturers. It makes for a very intuitive and smooth assistance than can best be explained by going for a cycle on one.
There are 5 Drive modes: Off, Eco, Tour, Sport and Turbo, all easily accessed via the control unit that is mounted on the handlebars. When cycling on Turbo mode, the motor assists the rider up to 225%, supplying 50Nm of torque.
Improvements have been made on the new Active Line motor. There is a better ground clearance through the optimised integration of the drive unit, it’s also lighter and emits lower vibrations than previous models.
The Sinus Tria 8 features the shift detection technology, advising the rider when to change gears to reduce wear of components and save battery consumption.
The maximum range achievable with the 400Wh li-ion battery is 190 km (on Eco mode, at an average speed of 20 km/h with ideal conditions). From our experience, the average autonomy is more about 70km in one charge.
Great attention to details and finish
Apart from the quality of its electrical components, Sinus electric bikes distinguish themselves through their attention to detail. As with all the bikes in the Staiger Sinus range the Tria 8 is a durable, reliable and enjoyable bike to ride, even for the most demanding of users.
The Sinus Tria 8 is a superb electric bike, with all the qualities required for demanding urban use and /or long distance touring.
